General
To ensure your safety and best results, Newcastle Tattoo Removal is operated by a team of Registered Nurses and Dermal Therapists.
Pain experience does vary from client to client, our specialists will work with you to ensure your experience is a comfortable one.
NTR makes use of a Zimmer Epidermal Cooler to relieve the laser sensation by cooling/numbing the treatment area. Other pain management options are also available if needed, at the specialist's discretion.
There is a $50 consultation fee which is fully redeemable on the cost of your treatment.
Pricing for tattoo removal is determined by the time and skill necessary to perform the service. Exact pricing will be discussed during your consultation.
Please see our pricing and packages page for detailed information on our prices.
The smallest tattoo will take only a matter of minutes once cooled and treated. Larger tattoos require more time.
In most cases greater than 95% clearing will be achieved. Where the client is committed to the final treatments, 100% clearing is achieved.
The rate at which your tattoo clears varies case by case depending on your body's ability to remove the ink particles after the laser has initiated the process.
Our clinicians will assess your tattoo's profile and be able to give detailed information at your free consultation.
To ensure your care and treatment is of the highest quality and safety standard, it is an NTR policy that all clients are assessed in the clinic before treatment commences.
In your consultation our specialists assess your tattoo and consider all influencing factors when discussing your treatment with you. Some of these factors are
- Client expectation
- Questions and concerns you may have
- Location and size of your tattoo
- Skin type
- Laser settings
- Time frames
Yes.
In most cases this is possible, there may be some influencing factors that will inhibit same day treatment. This will be determined in your consultation.
Considerable fading is noticeable after one session. Each tattoo will vary in the time and amount of sessions required to completely remove your tattoo.
The majority of tattoos require anywhere from 6 to 10 sessions to disappear although some tattoos may require less and some more.
There are a number of factors that can influence the rate at which your tattoo clears, such as:
- Location of your tattoo
- Size and depth of your tattoo
- Types of ink
- Skin type
- Colour
Each and everyone's skin reacts to treatment differently.
Whilst the incidence of scarring or skin pigmentation blemishes is extremely low, there are no guarantees as to how your skin may react. In some cases, scarring may be present from the original tattooing process that becomes more visible once the ink is cleared.
The skin will need to be free of any makeup, fake tan, oils, lotions etc. If possible, avoid using these on the day of your treatment.
Make a note of any medications and mention these to our medical practitioners on the day of your consultation.
Please do your best to avoid sun exposure in the weeks leading up to your treatment. If you work outside, follow sun safe tips including:
- Use high rated SPF creams
- Wear suitable long-length clothing to block UV
- Seek shade where possible
Our clinicians will provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your skin after your treatment to ensure you get the best results.
If you have any questions after treatment please call through and speak to your practitioners 02 4929 1011.

Most tattoos can be treated in one session but there are exceptions with very large tattoos.
There are restrictions that we have in place to ensure that your treatment is safe and your after care is manageable. Very large tattoos usually require more than one visit to the clinic to completely pass over the tattoo with the laser.
Exact pricing will be discussed during your consultation. As an indicative price, a half back is $500.
Yes, there is a scale that caters for small tattoos. Every tattoo will be assessed individually in your consultation or by a member of our client support team when you submit a booking request form. Our medical practitioners will adjust your rate according to the size of your tattoo. Pricing for tattoo removal is determined by the time and skill necessary to perform the service, and as an indicative price, a small area, similar to a business card size is $150.
